New World's Day School uses the whole-language approach to learning. All areas of the classroom reflect and emphasize the units of study. Opportunities for development are provided through age-appropriate toys, morning circle time, learning center activities, crafts, Body Rhytmics, outside play, and quality children's literature.
In addition to classroom activities, each class attends Body Rhythmics for 20 minutes each day. This curriculum is designed to aid in gross motor skill development through song, dance, various sports, puppets, and other physical activities.
Another part of the curriculum is weekly chapel time. At chapel the children and teachers come together to celebrate God's love with stories, puppets, and songs.
All age groups learn the Pledge of Allegiance and recite it daily.
Playground time permits children to use their imaginations, explore their enviroment, expand their independence, and develop their muscles and coordination skills. The outdoor time is 20 minutes each day, weather permitting.

Phonics:
Saxon Phonics is a systematic and structured approach to phonics and phonemic
awareness. It helps children develop the skills necessary to meet or exceed reading
expectations. Through daily review and practice, students become very comfortable
with "coding" words.
Through daily practice, review and incremental development, students build firm foundations in the basics of reading.
Saxon incorporates reading, spelling, and handwriting so that children understand how these skills function together as a whole. It promotes the development of phonemic awareness while including games and activities that allow children to apply and practice previously introduced skills.
Math:
Mathematics is a concept that is reinforced all during the day. Math begins
with our morning circle time, discussing the calendar, time, and reinforced in math
center. Our curriculum is Saxon math. Saxon is an intensive program that develops
counting, numeration, sequencing, measurement, time, geometry, patterns, money,
addition, subtraction, and problem solving. Saxon math lays the foundation for
algebra and calculus.
Computers:
Our Kindergarten class is equipped with its very own computer lab! Each student
will spend time in the computer lab everyday. State of the art computers and software
support the phonics and math curriculum. Children will leave New World confident and
comfortable in the area of high technology.
Music and Gross Motor Skill Development:
The children are exposed to songs, dance, various sports, puppets, and other
physical activities in this class, as well as excellent children's music.
Learning Centers:
The classroom centers include creative writing center, reading center, science
center, math center, building center, computers, manipulatives/puzzles, and home
center. Each center revolves around the unit of study. Children are encouraged
to experience different centers each week.
Chapel:
The Kindergarten class will attend chapel each week. During this time we
celebrate God's love, families, friends, and teachers through stories and song.
Field Trips:
Field trips contribute to learning outside the classroom and are an integral
part of our program. Parents are encouraged to participate.
Extended Activity and Lunch:
We strongly encourage each child enroll for the 12:00-2:00 session at least
two days per week. The extended hours allow for additional instruction time.
